Design Manager – Devon
Are you ready to take the lead on innovative and large-scale construction projects? We’re working with a leading main contractor who is looking for an experienced Design Manager to join their Southwest team.
As a Design Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping and managing the design process across a portfolio of projects ranging from £10m to £100m. These cover a variety of sectors including Education, Leisure, Transport, Commercial, Residential, and Public Sector facilities. You’ll ensure that design solutions are innovative, cost-effective, and delivered to meet both project and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the design process to ensure outputs meet project goals, specifications, and budgets.
Oversee the appointment and performance of consultants, managing them against agreed scopes of service.
Develop and maintain design programmes to align with overall project milestones.
Drive innovation in delivering technical solutions.
Chair design team meetings, ensuring actions are followed through to completion.
Ensure all designs achieve statutory and regulatory approvals with full documentation.
About You
We’re looking for a collaborative leader with a strong technical background in construction design.
You’ll have:
Experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary design teams.
Strong communication and leadership skills.
Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements within construction.
A track record of developing design programmes and achieving project milestones.
A proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving.
Relevant driving licence.
