Design Manager – Drylining / Façade / Re-Cladding
Essex / London Main Contractor Permanent
We’re working with a respected main contractor who deliver a wide range of specialist projects, including drylining, façades, and re-cladding schemes across London and the South East. With a strong pipeline of secured work, they are now seeking to appoint a Design Manager to strengthen their team.
The Role
As Design Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating the design process across drylining, façade, and re-cladding projects. Working closely with the commercial, site, and client teams, you will ensure that design solutions are practical, cost-effective, and meet both client expectations and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the full design process from tender through to project completion.
Coordinate design input from consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Review and check design drawings for buildability, compliance, and value engineering opportunities.
Ensure designs meet client specifications, project deadlines, and budget requirements.
Provide technical support to project and site teams throughout delivery.
Maintain strong communication between internal teams, consultants, and clients.
The Ideal Candidate
Our client is open to considering candidates with a mix of experience — from Assistant/Trainee Design Managers looking to step up, through to experienced professionals seeking more responsibility.
We are looking for:
Proven experience in drylining, façades, or building envelope projects.
A good understanding of current building regulations and standards.
Strong organisational and coordination skills.
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail.
