About the Role
Hill McGlynn is currently representing a well-established, forward-thinking main contractor in their search for a skilled and driven Design Manager to join their Central London team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a range of high-profile construction schemes within the commercial, residential, and mixed-use sectors.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the design process from tender through to delivery, ensuring coordination, compliance, and timely execution of design deliverables.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and coordinate design activities across project stages
* Liaise with internal departments, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure seamless delivery
* Ensure all design work aligns with regulatory standards, specifications, and client requirements
* Support the planning and procurement process with relevant technical input
* Identify risks and assist in design value engineering opportunities
* Provide ongoing support during the construction phase regarding design queries
Key Requirements:
* Previous experience in a Design Manager role within the UK construction industry
* Exposure to a variety of project types – ideally commercial or residential developments
* Advantageous: Prior experience working on cladding and façade packages
* Solid understanding of UK Building Regulations and industry compliance standards
* Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
* Relevant academic background in architecture, engineering, or construction management
