Design Manager
A leading infrastructure delivery organisation is seeking a Design Manager with expertise in Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEPH) systems. This contract role focuses on Stage 5 design delivery across 12 assets along a major London tunnel route. The successful candidate will be a key point of contact for the supply chain and will ensure high-quality, coordinated design across multiple disciplines.
Working closely with supply chain partners, you will ensure technical requirements are met, processes are followed and value is delivered throughout the lifecycle of the works. This hybrid position is based at the North Acton site with flexibility to work from home two days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee Stage 5 design deliverables from subcontractors
Ensure processes are implemented and adapted where necessary
Manage interfaces between design suppliers and the integrator
Coordinate responses to supplier queries
Ensure compliance with design for maintenance and health and safety requirements
Monitor progress, report risks and collaborate with commercial and delivery teams
Identify and resolve scope gaps and interface issues
Engage with assurance, quality and engineering teams
Support subcontract reconciliation and cost management
Track and coordinate design document reviews
Ensure adherence to design management and assurance plans
Manage Stage 4 design queries and defects
Allocate and prioritise Stage 4 design resources
Assist with cost management and reconciliation for Stage 4
Ensure CDM requirements are communicated and embedded in design
Collaborate with the CDM lead to meet regulatory requirements
Lead risk reviews and communication of risks across teamsSkills and Experience Essential
Experience in MEPH design management, including Fire Systems, Lifts, EMC and T&C
Background in detailed design within an MEP context
Knowledge of policies and standards for MEP design
Understanding of self-assured design environments
Ability to work independently and collaboratively across stakeholders
Proven application of CDM 2015 requirements within design
Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, Navisworks and document control platforms
Strong communication skills, adaptable to varied audiences
Relevant CSCS cardDesirable
Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Systems Engineering
Familiarity with specialist MEP engineering software
Experience working under NEC contract frameworksLocation and Working Pattern
