Are you a proactive and detail-oriented individual with a passion for design coordination and project delivery? We’re recruiting for a Design Manager to join a dynamic and fast-paced team, playing a pivotal role in the successful delivery of high-quality construction and design projects.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established company that works on a diverse portfolio of projects, mainly in London and surrounding areas. Based predominantly at the company’s head office in Ipswich, you’ll also attend design meetings, presentations, and site visits to ensure the seamless execution of design-related activities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the design setting-out process to meet project timelines and quality standards.
* Manage and coordinate workloads for design technicians, including issuing status reports, suffix allocation, and raising RFIs and technical submittals.
* Coordinate site surveys and ensure accurate setting out is achieved.
* Track and report progress against project programmes.
* Attend and contribute to design development meetings.
* Review and verify all design drawings against architectural specifications and ensure timely status updates until approval (Status A).
* Ensure up-to-date revision drawings are in use across all stages of the project.
* Raise requisitions and prepare cutting lists as required.
* Ensure full compliance with company quality, health & safety, and environmental standards.
What We’re Looking For:

* Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
* Confident decision-maker with the ability to take accountability and ownership of responsibilities.
* Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and lead multidisciplinary teams.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
* Strong time management and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively to meet tight deadlines.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
* Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
* Previous experience in a similar design coordination or project-based role.
* Relevant qualifications or certifications in construction, architecture, or design (preferred but not essential).
Key Relationships:
* Internal: Design team (including Document Control), Project Managers, Site Managers, and Surveyors.
* External: Main Contractors, Subcontractors, and Suppliers.
