Design Manager (MEICA) Location: St Albans Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: £80,000 - £85,000 per annum Red Sky Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a leading civil engineering contractor. We are seeking a Design Manager to lead multi-discipline engineering teams and provide technical solutions for complex infrastructure projects within the water and wastewater industry. The Role: As a Design Manager, you will oversee the delivery of design solutions for clean water, wastewater, and biosolids treatment systems, pipelines, trunk mains, sewers, pumping stations, and networks. You will be responsible for managing the technical compliance, quality, and appropriateness of solutions delivered, ensuring they align with project schedules and budgets. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage design consultants and engineering teams to deliver project solutions. Take ownership and accountability for the technical appropriateness of project solutions throughout the project life cycle. Ensure designs comply with customer and statutory standards, regulations, and specifications. Manage the development of robust, reliable, and maintainable asset designs. Oversee project engineering budgets and schedules, ensuring timely delivery of technical solutions. Implement change control processes to manage budgetary, program, and scope changes. Collaborate with technical, operational, and strategic stakeholders on project issues, risks, and scope changes. Manage temporary works and ensure responsibilities are clearly defined for all roles. Promote a culture of safety, quality, and integrity across all project activities. Key Relationships: Regional Managers, Engineering Managers, and Operational Managers Site Agents and Site Teams Clients and Consultants Supply Chain and Contractors About You: Minimum 10 years of design and management experience in civil engineering. Experience in foul water drainage systems and potable water mains design. Proficiency in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and common data environments. Degree/HNC qualified in civil engineering (or equivalent). Member of a recognized engineering institution (or working towards membership). Strong communication and people management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and staff. Self-driven and results-oriented, with a positive outlook on achieving project goals.
