The Role
We’re looking for a Design Technician & CNC Programmer to join our pre-production team — someone who takes pride in producing exceptional technical design data and CNC programs that drive flawless manufacturing.
As a Design Technician & CNC Programmer, you’ll play a crucial part in translating design concepts into production-ready technical data.
Working closely with Project and Production teams, you’ll create accurate 2D & 3D detailed drawings, and CNC programs that ensure every element produced by Quest Joinery meets the company’s exceptional standards for accuracy, quality, and craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities
• Design & Technical Preparation
• Translate approved design concepts into detailed manufacturing data ready for production.
• Produce and manage high-quality design drawings and 3D models for joinery and associated materials.
• Develop manufacturing information that accounts for tolerances, fixings, and methods of assembly.
• Generate cutting lists, hardware specifications, and procurement data to support production planning.
• Ensure all technical data aligns with approved samples and specifications.
• CNC Programming
• Generate efficient, accurate CNC programs using WoodWop 8.
• Optimise panel processing through cutting lists using Magi-Cut 12.
• Verify CNC programs reflect latest revisions and technical standards before release.
• Liaise with machine operators to maintain accuracy, safety, and production efficiency.
• Promote a culture of precision, teamwork, and technical excellence across the workshop.
About You
You’ll have strong technical skills, a passion for quality, and a proactive approach to solving problems. You’ll be someone who thrives on detail and enjoys seeing complex designs become perfectly executed finished products.
Essential Skills & Experience:
• Proficiency in SWood, AutoCAD LT, WoodWop, Magi-Cut, and/or SolidWorks.
• Strong understanding of joinery manufacture, materials, and assembly methods.
• Proven ability to produce and interpret complex technical drawings and CNC data (2D & 3D)
• Excellent attention to detail, organisation, and accuracy under time constraints.
• Effective communication and coordination across multi-disciplinary teams.
• Self-motivated with a drive for process improvement and technical innovation.
