Job Description

Design Technology Teacher Location: Watford Salary: £150 - £210 per day (Dependent on Experience) Contract Type: Full-time, Long Term Start Date: September 2025 About the School: We are working with a well-established secondary school in Watford, known for its inclusive ethos and commitment to both student and staff development. The school prides itself on fostering creativity, practical skills, and hands-on learning. They are now seeking a passionate Design Technology Teacher to join their team on a long-term basis starting in September 2025. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for design, innovation, and technology to inspire the next generation of creators. Whether you're an experienced DT educator or an enthusiastic early-career teacher, we’d love to hear from you. The Role: You will be teaching Design Technology across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 experience is a plus, but not required), with potential areas including product design, resistant materials, graphics, and CAD/CAM. You'll plan and deliver practical and engaging lessons, support students in developing their design and technical skills, and ensure a safe, well-organised workshop environment. Key Responsibilities: Deliver creative and well-structured DT lessons that engage and inspire students Encourage hands-on learning through a variety of design and manufacturing projects Monitor, assess, and provide feedback on student progress Maintain and manage workshop tools, materials, and equipment Collaborate with the DT department to develop curriculum and resources Contribute to the wider school community and participate in staff duties What We’re Looking For: QTS or equivalent teaching qualification (preferred but not essential) Experience teaching Design Technology at a secondary school level Strong knowledge of the DT curriculum and workshop safety procedures A practical, creative approach to teaching and learning Strong classroom and behaviour management skills Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one) What We Offer: Competitive daily pay rate based on experience Supportive department and experienced leadership team Well-resourced DT department and access to modern tools/technology CPD and career development opportunities A friendly, community-oriented school environment On-site parking and strong transport connections How to Apply: To apply, please visit our website at or click the ‘apply now’ button.
