An outstanding comprehensive school in Oxford is recruiting an experienced and forward-thinking Design & Technology Teacher to join their well-resourced department in September 2025. This role is ideal for a practical educator who excels in delivering high-quality design solutions and sustainable thinking through engaging student-centred learning.
Role Responsibilities
*
Deliver the full DT curriculum across KS3 and KS4, with potential to teach KS5 Product Design or Engineering
*
Facilitate a structured and creative design process—ideation, model-making, reviewing, iterating—using real-world contexts and sustainable materials
*
Implement and maintain high health and safety standards within workshop spaces and during off-site activities
*
Support student design portfolios from concept through to final coursework presentations
*
Lead extracurricular initiatives—maker fairs, student enterprise programs, industrial visits, and engaging project days
Ideal Candidate
*
Degree in Design, Engineering or related field with Qualified Teacher Status
*
Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (for example Fusion 360 or SolidWorks), workshop machinery, and digital fabrication tools
*
Ability to innovate pedagogy with cross-disciplinary learning—working with subjects like Maths (measurement & electronics) or Art (aesthetics)
*
Confident in managing large practical classes, supporting mixed-ability student groups

Specialist DT suites including CAD stations, 3D printers, electronics benches, and CNC machinery

Full-time technical support and strong linkages with the local engineering and manufacturing sectors
