An ambitious and forward-thinking secondary school in Taunton is seeking a creative and visionary Design & Technology Teacher for September 2025. With a focus on sustainability and future-ready skills, this role is ideal for someone eager to develop real-world, industry-relevant DT education in an inclusive and high-achieving environment.
Role highlights:
You'll deliver DT to KS3 and KS4, with scope for KS5 Product Design. You'll design modules covering eco-design, material lifecycle awareness, sustainable construction, and social impact project briefs. You'll also lead students through prototyping, CAD/CAM, and production planning to bring ideas to life.
Key responsibilities:

Plan and lead engaging lessons rooted in design thinking, prototyping, evaluation, and user-centred design
*
Manage workshop safety and machinery use, instilling precision and technique
*
Showcase student innovation at public-facing events (e.g. DT fairs, exhibitions, apprenticeship showcases)
*
Collaborate with local engineers, makerspaces, and environmental organisations
Ideal candidate:
*
DT, Engineering or Product Design degree with QTS
*
Proficient with tools, CNC, 3D printing, and CAD software (e.g. Fusion 360, SketchUp)
*
Passionate about sustainability, creativity, and employability-based learning
*
Excels in guidance, differentiation, and technical upskilling for students
