About the Role

Veritas Education is working in partnership with a well-established secondary school in the Bradford area to recruit a proactive and organised Design & Technology (DT) Technician for a full-time, long-term position starting in September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and creative DT department, supporting staff and students across a range of specialist areas, including Resistant Materials, Product Design, Engineering, Graphics, and Construction.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring practical lessons run smoothly by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, and supporting health and safety procedures within the workshop environment.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare materials, tools, and equipment for practical DT lessons
Support teachers and students during practical activities where required
Maintain machinery, tools, and workshop equipment
Ensure all workshop areas are safe, clean, and organised
Manage stock levels and order supplies when necessary
Conduct routine maintenance and safety checks on equipment
Assist with the preparation of project materials and displays
Support compliance with health and safety regulations at all times

The Ideal Candidate

Previous experience working within a DT department, workshop, engineering, construction, or manufacturing environment is desirable
Good practical skills and knowledge of tools and machinery
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
A proactive and flexible approach to work
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
