Full Time
Job Purpose:
Lead the assessment and determination of complex planning applications, including major residential, commercial and mixed-use developments.
Prepare high-quality reports and recommendations for Planning Committee.
Provide technical advice and support to Planning Officers and Senior Planning Officers.
Interpret planning legislation, local policy and national guidance to inform robust decision-making.
Represent the Council at pre-application meetings, public consultations, site visits and Planning Committee.
Work collaboratively with developers, consultees, legal representatives and local communities.
Support the Council in planning appeals, hearings and public inquiries.
Mentor colleagues and contribute to professional development across the team.
Promote continuous improvement by helping develop efficient processes and maintaining high standards of planning practice.
Respond professionally to complex customer enquiries and complaints.
