Diesel Locomotive Production Support Engineer | Leeds | up to £56,000 | Permanent The Opportunity Join a nationally recognised rail freight operator in a pivotal engineering role focused on driving efficiency, reliability, and continual improvement across a large diesel locomotive fleet. Some of the Key Responsibilities Provide technical support and lead improvements in diesel locomotive maintenance and performance Monitor and analyse fleet reliability, safety, and cost metrics Develop and implement engineering changes and fleet modifications Create and maintain asset management and maintenance plans Support incident response and provide on-call technical advice The Candidate You’ll hold a minimum HNC (or equivalent) in electrical or mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years of experience in Traction & Rolling Stock. A degree in engineering is preferred but not essential. The ideal candidate will be confident in reviewing technical data, identifying patterns and trends, and translating insights into practical engineering solutions. Strong communication skills are essential, as you’ll be working collaboratively with colleagues across engineering, operations, and fleet management. A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and a passion for continuous improvement will be key to success in this role.
