Director of Safeguarding and Training
Liverpool (4 days office-based, 1 day remote) | National & International Travel
Ou Client, a forward thinking national safeguarding body, is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Safeguarding and Training to join their senior leadership team. This is a high-profile role where you will oversee two vital departments, lead sector-wide safeguarding strategy, and make a lasting difference in a mission-led organisation.
The Role
As Director, you will:
Lead and develop the Safeguarding and Training teams, embedding accountability and innovation.
Act as the organisation’s central safeguarding expert, ensuring compliance, audit readiness, and best practice.
Oversee complex investigations and case management.
Work with the Training Manager to deliver a five-year strategy for safeguarding training.
Represent our client nationally and internationally, presenting with confidence and influence.
Ensure systems and processes are effective, data-led, and compliant with Charity Commission requirements.
Champion team development, wellbeing, and motivation across the organisation.
This is both a strategic and operational role where you’ll balance high-level planning with hands-on leadership.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a proven safeguarding leader who brings:
Senior management experience in safeguarding and training (charity sector experience an advantage).
Deep knowledge of safeguarding law, practice, and investigations (adults and children).
A recognised training/teaching qualification (or equivalent).
Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams.
Strong IT skills, including safeguarding or case management systems.
Excellent communication, influencing, and public speaking skills.
Resilience, adaptability, and a collaborative approach.
An understanding of safeguarding within the Catholic Church or religious life services would be a distinct advantage.
