Location: Kingston upon Thames, London
Contract Type: Temporary (Start ASAP until December, with possible extension)
Hours: Flexible (25-35 hours per week)

We're looking for a dedicated Disability and Mental Health Adviser to join our vibrant educational community. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of supporting students, ensuring they have the resources and accommodations they need to thrive academically and personally.
What You'll Do:
Provide professional, specialist information, advice, and guidance to disabled students and applicants through in-person and virtual appointments, emails, and phone calls.
Stay up to date with relevant legislation and ensure accurate, appropriate advice is offered at all times.
Maintain a broad caseload, offering ongoing support and guidance to applicants and students alike.
Monitor urgent deadlines and take necessary actions to support student needs.
Develop and share a Summary of Support Needs document to recommend reasonable adjustments for individual students.
Guide students on external support sources like Disabled Students Allowances (DSA) and liaise with external partners as needed.
utilise our online student enquiry and case management system to maintain thorough, accurate case notes while ensuring GDPR compliance.
Identify when confidentiality may need to be breached and collaborate with the Disability and Mental Health Manager on emergency procedures.
Work closely with academic and professional services staff to implement anticipatory and reasonable adjustments in line with equality legislation.
Promote good practises to enhance accessibility for disabled students, aligning with our Access and Participation Plan and Public Sector Equality Duty.
Support the Disability and Mental Health Manager in driving continual improvements in our services and inclusivity across the university.
Assist in key university activities including open days, recruitment events, enrolment, and welcome activities.
Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge of university academic regulations.
