Key Responsibilities of the Disability Teaching Assistant (TA):
Provide tailored support to students with a range of disabilities, helping them access the curriculum and participate fully in classroom activities.
Promote inclusivity and respect by encouraging positive interactions between pupils and fostering a welcoming, diverse learning environment.
Support student independence and personal development, guiding pupils to build confidence, life skills, and self-advocacy.
Assist with emotional well-being and behaviour management, ensuring pupils feel safe, understood, and motivated in their learning journey.
Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and families to implement individual learning plans and celebrate each pupil’s progress and achievements.
Ideal Candidate Requirements of the Disability Teaching Assistant (TA):
Understanding of working with children and young people with a range of disabilities, with the ability to adapt learning support to meet individual needs.
Commitment to inclusivity and equality, ensuring every pupil feels respected, valued, and fully included in the school community.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills, supporting positive interactions with pupils, staff, and families.
Patience, empathy, and resilience, with the flexibility to respond calmly and effectively to a variety of behaviours and learning challenges.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dedicated team, contributing to personalised learning plans and promoting independence, confidence, and joyful engagement.
Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
