We are currently seeking an experienced Disrepair Case Officer to join a busy Housing Repairs service within a South London Local Authority on an initial 5-month contract.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a caseload of housing disrepair matters, helping to minimise the Council's exposure to legal action and ensuring cases are resolved efficiently and effectively.
You will manage disrepair cases from initial complaint or threat of litigation through to resolution, working closely with surveyors, repairs teams, contractors and Legal Services. You will monitor case progress, costs, deadlines and potential liabilities, ensuring necessary repair works are ordered and completed within agreed timescales.
The role will also involve preparing information for Legal Services, supporting the settlement of claims, responding to Stage 2 and Ombudsman complaints, maintaining accurate case records and representing the Council in court proceedings where required.
The successful candidate will have:
·Experience managing housing disrepair cases within a local authority or social housing environment
·Knowledge of housing repairs, complaints and disrepair litigation
·Strong case management and organisational skills
·Experience liaising with legal teams, surveyors and contractors
·Excellent written communication and stakeholder management skills
·Ability to manage competing deadlines and high-risk cases
