Job Description
Belmont Recruitment are proud to be supporting Wakefield Council’s Housing Needs Service in recruiting a Specialist Domestic Abuse Helpline & Intake Practitioner to join the Wakefield District Domestic Abuse Service (WDDAS) on an initial 3 month temporary contract with a view to extend.
This is a vital frontline role where you will provide the first point of contact for victims of domestic abuse, triaging referrals, assessing risk, and working with partner agencies to ensure immediate safety and support.
The Role
*
Deliver a responsive helpline and intake service for individuals experiencing domestic abuse.
*
Carry out risk assessments and needs assessments, prioritising those at highest risk of harm.
*
Provide crisis intervention and safety planning to victims and families.
*
Work as part of a multi-agency safeguarding team, liaising with police, housing, health, and social care partners.
*
Provide information and guidance to victims, families, and professionals.
*
Ensure accurate case management records in line with safeguarding and data protection requirements.
About You
*
Substantial experience working in the field of domestic abuse.
*
Strong knowledge of domestic abuse dynamics, safeguarding, and current legislation.
*
Experience delivering crisis interventions and risk assessments.
*
Skilled in multi-agency working, with the ability to build effective professional relationships.
*
IDVA qualification, relevant degree, or equivalent professional experience.
*
Resilient, empathetic, and committed to empowering victims and improving outcomes.
