📍 Location: Gwent-wide (Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport, and Torfaen)
🕒 Hours: 35 per week (with some flexibility required)
📞 On Call: Approx. 1 in 8 weeks (first-tier rota)
💰 Salary: £23,982
🌴 Annual Leave: 25 days, rising to 32 (pro rata)
💼 Pension: 8% employer / 2% employee after probation
🧭 Contract: Permanent and Fixed Term Contracts until March of 2026 and 2027
Are you passionate about empowering young people and making a lasting difference in your community? We're looking for a Domestic Abuse Children & Young Person (DACYP) Support Worker to join a dynamic team delivering an innovative prevention and early intervention programme across Gwent.

About the Role
You'll deliver interactive sessions to school-age children and young people (CYP), helping them understand domestic abuse, healthy relationships, and how to challenge harmful gender norms. Your work will span schools, PRUs, youth groups, and alternative education settings, reaching those most at risk.
From group workshops to one-on-one support, you'll play a key role in ensuring young people feel safe, supported, and empowered to build a future free from violence.
You'll:
Facilitate awareness-raising sessions and group work around domestic abuse and gender-based violence
Provide trauma-informed 1:1 support, including risk and safety planning
Collaborate with professionals to ensure joined-up support for CYP
Promote and co-develop youth-led initiatives, including the Youth VAWDASV Ambassador programme
Update and co-create engaging content to keep sessions fresh, relevant, and evidence-informed
Help shape a safer, more respectful community through early intervention
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who is:
Experienced in working with children and young people affected by domestic abuse or harmful behaviours
A confident communicator with the ability to lead group sessions and manage challenging behaviours
Compassionate, non-judgemental, and trauma-informed in your approach
Organised, flexible, and capable of working independently and as part of a team
Committed to equal opportunities, safeguarding, and empowering young voices
Essential:
Strong understanding of VAWDASV, adverse childhood experiences, and their impacts
Full driving licence and access to a vehicle IS ESSENTIAL!
IT proficient (MS Word, Outlook, Excel)
Desirable:
IDVA/ISVA/CHIDVA qualification
Welsh speaker
Experience with group facilitation programmes (e.g., Freedom Programme, STAR)
