Draughtsperson - Structural Steel

Are you an experienced draughtsperson looking for your next challenge? A well-established and respected structural steel fabrication company in the Southwest is seeking a skilled Draughtsperson to join their growing technical team.
You'll play a key role in producing high-quality drawings and models for a range of steel structures-from portal frames to multi-storey buildings. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to take more responsibility in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment, with support to grow into more senior roles over time.
What You'll Be Doing
Produce accurate general arrangement and fabrication drawings for steel-framed buildings
Model structural steelwork using CAD and 3D software (e.g. AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, Advance Steel)
Prepare layout drawings, connection details, and fabrication packages
Work closely with engineers, project managers, and the fabrication team to ensure smooth project delivery
Ensure drawings comply with relevant industry standards and client requirements
Communicate with architects, clients, and site teams where necessary
Contribute to improving drawing processes and mentoring junior staff as you progress
What We're Looking For
3+ years of experience in a structural steel or fabrication drawing role
Proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD, Tekla, Advance Steel)
Good understanding of steel structures, fabrication techniques, and connection detailing
Ability to interpret engineering calculations and specifications
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Strong communication skills and a collaborative, proactive mindset
Keen to grow into a senior draughting or technical leadership role in the futureBefore You Apply
