JOB ROLE: Driver
WORK LOCATION: Goods In/Despatch/Transport
HOURS OF WORK: 6.00am-14.30pm/flexible, Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays
DRIVER'S JOB PURPOSE:
To provide a professional and efficient collection and delivery service to the major airports in the South East of England.
DRIVER'S PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
* Adhere to a detailed daily schedule of collections and deliveries of high cost, dangerous goods classification items.
* Drive safely and expediently ensuring that yourself, cargo and public are not endangered at any time.
* Maintain contact with the Company ensuring that problems / issues are resolved quickly and efficiently.
* Successfully complete the ADR licence.
* Compliance with all airline / airport security procedures at all times.
* Maintain vehicle on a daily basis, checking oil, water, tyre pressure etc to ensure vehicle is sound and roadworthy.
* Liase with Line Manager regarding the servicing and maintenance for the vehicle.
* Assist in the unloading of goods from the vehicle, upon return to the Company.
* Have an up to date understanding and awareness of the Health and Safety implications for transporting dangerous goods.
* Maintain a smart appearance, representing the Company’s best interests at all times.
* Develop an excellent relationship with front line customers, providing a professional, flexible and courteous image of the Company at all times.
* Liaise with the Finance Supervisor on a weekly basis regarding expenses incurred (i.e. toll fees etc.)
* Basic understanding of dangerous goods awareness.
DRIVER'S PERSONAL SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES:
* Excellent verbal communication skills
* Meticulous attention to detail, methodical approach to work ensuring accuracy at all times
* Reliability and trustworthy
* Excellent team worker, with the ability to work alone. Has the desire to succeed as an individual and with the surrounding team
* Positive approach / attitude to customer service (both internal and external customers)
* Highly driven and self-motivated
* Flexible and adaptable in approach
* Pragmatic approach to administration with good numerical skills
* Confident and calm under pressure
* Good planning and organising skills with the ability to prioritise accordingly
DRIVER'S ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Clean drivers licence
* 25 years +
* 5 years continuous employment history
* Dangerous Goods Awareness (desirable but not essential)
