An exciting opportunity has arisen for a creative and enthusiastic Design and Technology Teacher to join a forward-thinking secondary school in Yeovil starting in September 2025. This is a full-time, permanent post ideal for either experienced teachers or Early Career Teachers who are passionate about innovation, design, and practical learning. About the DT Department The DT department is modern, innovative, and well-equipped with a wide range of tools, digital technologies, and workshops supporting product design, engineering, and food technology. Students benefit from hands-on, project-based learning in a department that consistently produces impressive coursework and strong exam outcomes. About the Role As a Design and Technology Teacher, your responsibilities will include: • Teaching DT across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential for KS5 depending on experience). • Delivering engaging and practical lessons that promote problem-solving, creativity, and resilience. • Using a variety of tools and software to support CAD/CAM and traditional making skills. • Supporting students with coursework, controlled assessments, and project-based tasks. • Ensuring a safe and well-maintained workshop environment. • Contributing to department schemes of work and cross-curricular projects. • Participating in school-wide initiatives, enrichment activities, and open events. Experience and Qualifications • A relevant degree in Design and Technology or a related subject. • QTS or PGCE in Secondary Education. • Knowledge of practical techniques and familiarity with workshop safety protocols. • A commitment to encouraging innovation and technical literacy in young people.
