About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced E&I Approved Supervisor to join a specialist engineering organisation supporting critical gas infrastructure projects across the UK.
This role is ideally suited to a highly competent Electrical & Instrumentation professional with extensive experience within the gas transmission and distribution sector. You will be responsible for supervising and undertaking electrical installation, maintenance, inspection, testing, commissioning and fault-finding activities on operational gas sites and hazardous area installations, ensuring the highest standards of safety, compliance and technical excellence are maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical & Instrumentation Activities
Supervise and undertake Electrical & Instrumentation installation activities on operational gas infrastructure sites.
Carry out electrical installation, maintenance, inspection and testing activities within hazardous area environments.
Install, commission and maintain electrical and instrumentation systems associated with gas transmission and distribution assets.
Conduct fault finding, diagnostics and corrective maintenance activities on electrical and instrumentation equipment.
Support commissioning and energisation activities as required.
Perform electrical isolations and ensure safe systems of work are maintained throughout all activities.Inspection, Testing & Compliance
Conduct initial verification, periodic inspection and testing of electrical installations, including Ex and Intrinsically Safe (IS) systems.
Ensure all works comply with current electrical regulations, hazardous area requirements and company procedures.
Maintain compliance with Permit to Work (PTW) systems and operational site requirements.
Complete inspection reports, maintenance records and technical documentation.
Monitor quality standards and ensure all work is completed in accordance with project specifications and industry best practice.Site Supervision
Supervise electrical activities and provide technical guidance to site personnel and subcontractors.
Ensure works are completed safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.
Review, interpret, update and red-line electrical drawings and technical documentation.
Coordinate site activities with project teams, operational personnel and stakeholders.
Support project delivery through effective planning, communication and problem solving.Health, Safety & Environmental
Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all project activities.
Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with approved method statements.
Identify and report hazards, near misses and safety concerns.
Ensure compliance with ATEX/DSEAR requirements and hazardous area working practices.
Participate in safety briefings, toolbox talks and site audits where required.Essential Experience
Minimum 10 years' experience within Electrical & Instrumentation roles.
Significant experience working within the gas transmission and distribution industry.
Proven experience on major utility and gas infrastructure projects.
Extensive knowledge of hazardous area electrical installations.
Experience carrying out electrical inspection, testing and verification activities.
Strong background in commissioning, maintenance and fault diagnosis.
Experience working under Permit to Work systems and safe systems of work.
Ability to work independently and supervise electrical activities on operational sites.
Experience working within highly regulated industrial environments.
Essential Qualifications & Certifications
Time Served Electrician.
City & Guilds 236 Part 1 & Part 2 Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
City & Guilds 2382 – 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
City & Guilds 2377 Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment.
CompEx Ex01–04 Certification.
CompEx Ex05 & Ex06 (Dust).
Energy & Utility Skills Register (EUSR).
SCO Core.
SCO91.
Relevant utility client competency authorisations.
Desirable Qualifications
PASMA.
HSG47 Utility Avoidance Training.
First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid at Work.
Additional gas industry competencies and network operator authorisations.
Instrumentation calibration and commissioning experience.
Supervisory or leadership qualifications.
