EAL Teaching Assistant - All Girls' Secondary School - Wandsworth
Full Time | Term Time Only | Immediate Start
Up to £115 per day | Long Term Role (Temp to Perm)
Long Term Futures are working with a well-respected all-girls secondary school in Wandsworth to appoint an EAL (English as an Additional Language) Teaching Assistant for an immediate start.
This role focuses on supporting students who are new to English or developing their language skills, across Key Stages 3 and 4. You'll provide a combination of 1:1 support, small group intervention, and in-class assistance to help pupils access the curriculum and build confidence in both spoken and written English.
The school offers a supportive environment with a strong focus on inclusion, language development, and academic excellence. An EAL qualification or relevant experience supporting EAL learners is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
Support EAL students across a range of subjects and key stages
Deliver targeted interventions in reading, speaking and writing
Work 1:1 and in small groups to support academic progress and integration
Use visual aids, scaffolding techniques and simplified language to aid understanding
Collaborate with teaching staff and the SEN/EAL lead to plan and adapt resources
Track pupil progress and contribute to support reviews and planningIdeal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with EAL students in a secondary school setting
Understanding of second-language acquisition and inclusive strategies
EAL qualification or training (desirable but not essential)
Strong written and verbal English language skills
A calm, patient and encouraging approachLocation and Transport - Wandsworth, South West London
