Early Years Teaching Assistant

A school in Shildon are seeking a dedicated and caring Early Years Teaching Assistant to join our friendly team. You will work closely with our experienced teachers and SENDCO to support children aged 0-5, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), helping them to grow, learn, and thrive.
What you’ll be doing:
Supporting children’s learning and development through play-based activities aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
Working one-to-one or in small groups with children who need additional support, including those with SEND
Assisting with daily routines such as snack time, toileting, and personal care
Helping to create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all children
Supporting observation, assessment, and record-keeping of children’s progress
Collaborating with the teaching team, parents, and external professionals to meet each child’s individual needs
What we’re looking for:
Experience working with young children, preferably in an early years or nursery setting
A caring, patient, and positive attitude towards children and their development
Good communication and teamwork skills
A basic understanding of child development and the EYFS framework
Willingness to learn and develop skills related to SEND support and early intervention
Relevant qualifications to work in an early years setting

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
