Senior Commissioning Engineer - Up to £65/hr (Outside IR35)

We are seeking a Senior Commissioning Engineer to join a critical defence infrastructure project at AWE. This is a contract role paying up to £65 per hour, outside IR35, working full-time on site. You will play a key role in electrical commissioning activities, working closely with construction and commissioning management teams to ensure delivery to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
Commissioning of electrical systems, including PLC control systems, HMI, and SCADA (Siemens S7 - TIA).
Hands-on loop testing, fault finding, and modifications within electrical control panels.
Perform electrical testing, instrument calibration and setup (e.g. pressure transducers, flow meters, pneumatics).
Supervision of on-site electrical installations aligned to design specs and client requirements.
Execute leak testing (Parjo, pressure drop) and load testing.
Work collaboratively with multiple trades during installation and commissioning phases.
Ensure all project deliverables and quality standards are met or exceeded.
Compile and maintain Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and as-built documentation.
Conduct training sessions on newly commissioned or modified plant/equipment.
Essential Requirements
Minimum 5 years' hands-on commissioning experience, including electrical and control systems.
Strong understanding of process controls and instrumentation.
Experience working on Siemens S7 - TIA systems.
Comfortable working in high-integrity environments with rigorous standards.
Qualifications
SC Clearance (minimum)
Apprenticeship in Engineering or equivalent industry experience
City & Guilds 2391-52 - Inspection and Testing
City & Guilds 2382-22 - 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
CSCS Professional / ECS Electrical
SMSTS (Desirable)
First Aid at Work (3 day)
On-Site Training Provided
Test Team Leader (TTL)
Appointed Person (Commissioning) - NP(C)
Electrical Safety Training
