Talent STEM are supporting a leading high-hazard industrial manufacturer in North West England who are seeking an Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer to join their engineering team. This permanent position offers the opportunity to work in a COMAH-regulated facility, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of critical plant systems. About the role The EC&I Engineer will provide specialist support for electrical, control, and instrumentation systems across the site, covering design, maintenance, compliance, and continuous improvement. Key responsibilities include: - Acting as a technical authority for EC&I matters. - Leading and supporting projects from concept through to commissioning. - Ensuring compliance with COMAH, ATEX, DSEAR, and functional safety regulations. - Supporting troubleshooting, maintenance strategies, and reliability improvements. - Managing contractors and liaising with stakeholders. - Driving continuous improvement across safety and performance standards. Requirements - Degree in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineering (or related discipline). - 5–10 years’ EC&I experience within chemical, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments. - Strong knowledge of PLCs, DCS, instrumentation, and functional safety (IEC 61508/61511). - Familiarity with electrical distribution systems and BS 7671. - Experience of COMAH, ATEX, DSEAR, HAZOP/LOPA, and SIL assessments. - Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
