Job Title: Editorial Assistant (Data, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences Books) Salary: £26,600 - £32,600 per annum Location: Cambridge, UK – Hybrid. (at least 2 days per week in the office) Contract: Permanent Hours: Full time (35 hours per week) Join our Books team at Cambridge University Press & Assessment and play a key role in supporting the publication of world‑class academic titles in Data, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences. As an Editorial Assistant, you'll contribute to the development of high‑quality educational resources used by students and researchers around the world, while gaining hands‑on experience and building valuable skills in academic publishing. About the role The Editorial Assistant provides essential administrative and project support to a team of Commissioning Editors and Publishers working across mathematics, statistics, data science, computer science and engineering. The role supports all stages of the academic book publishing process, from initial proposal through to publication, helping ensure projects progress accurately and on schedule. Working closely with internal teams and external authors, the Editorial Assistant contributes to the delivery of high‑quality academic books used by students and researchers worldwide. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in academic publishing and develop valuable editorial and organisational skills. Additional responsibilities and accountabilities include: * Supporting the peer review of new book proposals and maintaining accurate editorial records * Assisting with the preparation and administration of author and contributor contracts * Acting as a point of contact for authors, responding to queries and supporting effective communication * Supporting the management of book projects, including preparation of manuscripts for handover to production * Maintaining accurate administrative, financial and project data across editorial systems * Providing wider administrative support to Commissioning Editors and contributing to team objectives This position has been classified as a hybrid role, requiring the selected candidate to typically spend 40-60% of their time collaborating and connecting face-to-face at their dedicated location. About You To succeed in this role, you will bring strong organisational skills, a collaborative mindset, and the confidence to manage a varied administrative workload.
