Job Description

Educational Psychologist - North East Coast

We're working in partnership with a Local Authority on the North East coast of England and are seeking locum Educational Psychologists to support statutory Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNAs).

We are looking for psychologists who can work flexibly to complete psychological advice for EHCNAs. Working patterns can be negotiated but will typically equate to two days per piece of psychological advice, including assessment of the child in context and report writing. Work is provided with a five-week turnaround to allow for quality assurance and submission.

Face-to-face working is preferred, though remote working may be considered where appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality psychological advice to inform the EHCP process

Complete face-to-face assessments to identify learning needs, emotional wellbeing, and barriers to progress

Produce clear, child-centred statutory reports to support informed decision-making

Work collaboratively with schools, families, and multi-agency professionals, keeping the child or young person at the centre of practice

Recommend evidence-based strategies and interventions for pupils with learning, emotional, and behavioural needs

Provide consultation and training to school staff to promote inclusion and build capacity

What We're Looking For

Postgraduate qualification in Educational Psychology

HCPC registration (essential)

Strong interpersonal and written communication skills

Experience working with children and young people, with a genuine commitment to improving outcomes

Role Details

Rate: £600 per day

Contract: Locum

IR35: Outside IR35
