Job Description

Role Overview: The EHCP Co-ordination Officer plays a vital role within the SEND service, responsible for managing and coordinating Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. This role involves working closely with families, schools, and multi-agency partners to ensure EHCPs are developed, maintained, and reviewed efficiently, in accordance with statutory guidance and local policies. Key Responsibilities: Coordinate and manage the statutory EHCP assessment process, including initial requests, gathering information, and ensuring timescales are met. Support the development, review, and annual review of EHCPs, liaising with families, schools, health and social care professionals. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of EHCP cases, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations. Communicate effectively with parents/carers, children and young people, educational settings, and external agencies throughout the EHCP process. Organise and facilitate meetings related to EHCP assessments and reviews. Ensure EHCP documentation is accurate, clear, and meets statutory requirements. Monitor and track progress of EHCP cases to ensure deadlines and statutory timescales are adhered to. Support the SEND team in managing workloads and providing information for reporting and quality assurance. Assist with the preparation of documentation for SEND tribunals and contribute to resolving disputes where appropriate. Participate in team meetings, training, and development activities. Promote a positive and inclusive approach to supporting children and young people with SEND.Person Specification: Experience of working in SEND services, education, social care, or a related environment. Good understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and Children and Families Act 2014. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage caseloads and meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to engage sensitively with children, families, and professionals. Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and case management systems. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.
