Job Description

JOB PURPOSE Creating, enacting, and updating job safety programmes for employees that encompass government health and safety regulations as well as company standards for safety in the workplace. MAIN DUTIES 1. Assist with maintenance and development of the Health, Safety and Environmental management system including gaining and maintaining ISO14001/45001 accreditation 2. Ensuring the business remains fully compliant and operates in accordance with all relevant legislation and corporate requirements. 3. Development, implementation and maintenance of the Health and Safety and Environmental Manuals, Procedures, Forms and Safe Systems of Work 4. Administering advice, guidance and support to management and employees in matters relating to Health & Safety and the Environment. 5. Maintenance and control of various permits and consents including Environment Agency, Severn Trent and local authority representatives. 6. Membership of the Safety Star Point, arrangement and co-ordination of meetings, plus circulation of information required and actions arising from the meeting 7. Accident / Incident / Near miss investigations and reporting. 8. Audits of the HSE system and co-ordination of corrective actions arising. 9. HSE induction for new starters and provision of information, instruction and training on matters relating to Health & Safety 10. Support of Facilities Management department to ensure legal compliance. 11. To conduct Risk Assessments and to oversee the co-ordination and completion of action plans. 12. To support development of Safety Champions to support area task assessments, SSoW through workshops and coaching. 13. Defining and delivering appropriate HSE training interventions within the business to ensure employees are competent to deliver their accountabilities. 14. The provision of monthly corporate HSE metrics. 15. Monitor and reduce utility consumption including gas, water and electricity for carbon reduction commitment and ISO14001 energy reduction initiatives. JOBHOLDER REQUIREMENTS Demonstrate previous experience of supporting Health, Safety & Environment, delivering training, conducting assessments and audits, ideally gained within a manufacturing or engineering environment. Have a minimum of 5 years' experience. Hold a NEBOSH Certificate or Equivalent in Occupational Health and Safety. Be fully conversant with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. Be able to manage multiple internal and external partners to deliver results. Possess excellent written and spoken communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships. Be able to work independently and as part of a team. Be commercially aware, with a hands-on, practical approach to Health and Safety.
