Job Description

Role: Electrical Assembly & Test Technician Location: Sandy SG19 Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday Salary: £16.00 – £20.00 per hour An excellent opportunity has now arisen for an Electrical Assembly & Test Technician to join our client’s successful and growing team. Who are they? Our client is a globally recognised engineering business specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke food processing machinery and industrial systems. Due to continued growth, they are looking for a capable and versatile Electrical Assembly & Test Technician to join their team. This is a hands-on role involving the complete electrical wiring and testing of complex industrial machinery, alongside supporting wider electrical works across the site. Benefits: Annual bonus scheme, subject to company performance 20 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, increasing to 26 days with length of service Pension scheme and life assurance Company sick pay scheme Workwear provided Staff meals and company events Subsidised vending machines Overtime available at 1.5x the standard hourly rate Duties of an Electrical Assembly & Test Technician: Wire and connect complete electrical systems across industrial machinery, including sensors, motors, actuators and interconnects Carry out functional testing, I/O checks and basic electrical fault-finding prior to commissioning Read and interpret electrical schematics, layout drawings and structured BOMs Assist with verifying signal paths and validating the safe operation of machinery Support electrical installation work around the factory, including lighting circuits, distribution boards and equipment upgrades Assist with new machinery installations and electrical improvement projects within production areas Work closely with other departments during machine build, routing, alignment and system integration Maintain a safe, tidy and professional working environment while delivering high-quality workmanship What we would like from you: Previous experience in machine wiring, industrial electrical assembly or a similar electrical engineering environment Ability to confidently read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring documentation Practical experience working with control devices, drives, sensors and motors, including DOL and VFD configurations Experience identifying and resolving electrical faults during machine build and testing Full UK driving licence is essential A flexible approach, with the ability to work across workshop build activities and wider electrical support Positive attitude, strong team-working skills and excellent attention to detail Desirable: Electrical installation experience within an industrial, commercial or domestic environment 18th Edition or equivalent recognised electrical qualification Exposure to automation systems, PLC/HMI architecture or drive commissioning Experience within a machinery manufacturing or engineering environment Development & Career Progression This role offers excellent opportunities for career development, with potential progression into positions such as: Controls Engineer – PLC/HMI development and system integration Test & Validation Technician – quality assurance, testing and diagnostics Electrical Design Technician – EPLAN, BOMs and system layouts Commissioning Engineer – machine validation and UK/international customer-site testing Working Hours The position is contracted at 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Typical working hours are: Monday: 7:30am – 4:00pm Tuesday: 7:30am – 4:30pm Wednesday & Thursday: 7:30am – 5:00pm Friday: 7:30am – 12:00pm There is a 10-minute morning break and a 30-minute lunch break each day. Overtime may be available, including Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings, and is paid at 1.5x the standard hourly rate.
