We are looking for a motivated Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a leading heavy industry business. Reporting directly to the engineering manager you will be a key member in ensuring the production facility is kept running. You will be involved in all aspects of planned and reactive maintenance within their operation. With progressive training and development this company is always looking to enhance its employees and their skill sets, whilst additionally being supported by a welcoming team of engineers. Role Description:
Perform planned and reactive maintenance on electrical, control, and instrumentation systems.
Diagnose and repair industrial electrical systems (single/three-phase, motors, starters, panels, MCCs).
Assist troubleshooting of PLC-controlled equipment using HMI/SCADA.
Maintain and calibrate instrumentation (pressure, temperature, level, flow, analytical).
Conduct loop checks, PID tuning, signal verification, and commissioning support (4-20mA, 0-10V, digital).
Complete PPM tasks and log work in the CMMS.
Work safely under Permit to Work and LOTOTO procedures.
Support breakdown reduction, root cause analysis, and reliability improvements.
Maintain technical documentation (schematics, loop drawings, calibration records).
Prepare commissioning documentation and manage relevant MOCs.Skills and Qualifications:
Essential: Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, Automation, or equivalent.
Desirable: 18th Edition (BS7671); PLC/SCADA training (Mitsubishi or Siemens).
Strong industrial electrical fault-finding skills.
Good understanding of control systems and instrumentation.
Ability to read electrical drawings, P&IDs, and loop diagrams.
Competent with electrical and instrumentation test equipment.
Strong safety awareness and procedural compliance.
Understanding of Layer 1/2 networking (VLANs, switching, fibre, PoE, industrial networks).
