Job Description
Title: Electrical Design and Bid Engineer
Job Type: Permanent
Location: Lancashire (3 days office expectation initially)
Projects: Private networks design and bid - LV/HV
Salary: 64k-72k + market leading package
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, estimate, bid and secure LV and HV construction projects in a competitive contracting environment
* Produce high quality, technically sound and commercially viable presentations / bids to customers
* Provide technical guidance and support to the business
* Help the business achieve sales targets for new construction projects
* Carry out contractual/price/technical negotiation with suppliers, customers and consultants
* Forecast and report on the pipeline of construction projects
* Carry out project handovers to the operations team
* Provide commercial/design support to the operations team
* Develop internal and external customer relationships to further develop the brand
Qualifications and Experience:
* Minimum 3 years design and estimating experience in the HV and/or LV sectors in a competitive environment (essential)
* LV Power Systems Engineer (essential)
* HNC in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
* Good knowledge and experience of 11/6.6kV and 415V systems including the design of switchgear, transformers, underground circuits and protection to DNO and Industry Standards (desirable)
* Familiar with both HV and LV earthing systems (desirable)
* Good understanding of the Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2015
* Excellent IT skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Understanding of construction projects and electrical installation practices
* Commercial risk assessment and mitigation experience
* Experience of working directly with customers
* Knowledge of DNO Codes of Practice, BS7671 and relevant industry standards
* Full UK driving licence
