Astute's Power team is partnering with a leading facilities management company to recruit a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to work in their decarbonisation team at either their London, Newcastle or Manchester office.
The Senior Electrical Design Engineer role comes with a starting salary of up to £65,000 + benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the Senior Electrical Design Engineer role
Reporting to the Lead Electrical Design Engineer you will:
Develop and deliver electrical designs across RIBA Stages 2-4, and support through Stages 5-6.
Design and integrate low-carbon energy systems including solar PV, LED lighting, battery storage, and smart controls.
Conduct technical assessments including load analysis, equipment sizing, and compliance checks (BS 7671, IET Wiring Regs).
Use tools like Amtech, Dialux, PVSol, and IES for energy modelling and system simulations.
Lead and coordinate BIM and CAD-based design processes across multidisciplinary teams.
Manage and review electrical designs, ensuring regulatory compliance and performance standards.
Support full project lifecycle delivery, including procurement input, design reviews, and risk mitigation.
Produce technical reports, specifications, and documentation for design and delivery phases.
Lead collaborative design workshops to promote innovation and technical integration.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the development of team expertise in sustainable technologies.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
Degree-qualified in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (BEng or equivalent).
6-10 years of experience in electrical building services design.
Proven background in low-carbon technology and sustainable retrofit project delivery.
Familiarity with funding-driven public sector decarbonisation projects (e.g. PSDS, SHDF).
Experience working across all RIBA design stages in multidisciplinary environments.
Strong understanding of UK building regulations, PAS 2035, MCS, and relevant standards.
Personal skills
Excellent communicator, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to varied audiences.
Collaborative mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
Passion for innovation, sustainability, and driving meaningful change in the built environment.
Salary and benefits of the Senior Electrical Design Engineer role
Salary between £40,000 - £65,000 (dependant on experience)
