Job Description

Electrical Design Engineer Northumberland, United Kingdom Salary: up to £50,000 Jackson Hogg is delighted to be partnering with a global supplier of fluid transfer systems and offshore equipment for the oil&gas, marine, and energy sectors. This is a permanent opportunity to join a core team working on multiple exciting, leading projects for the sectors above. Electrical Design Engineer Key Responsibilities: * Review project contracts, scope, costings, and schedules to ensure full technical and commercial understanding. * Define and execute the electrical and instrumentation (E&I) engineering strategy in line with project timelines and deliverables. * Liaise directly with clients to clarify technical discrepancies and ensure alignment throughout the project lifecycle. * Produce and review detailed E&I design documentation — including wiring schematics, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, and P&IDs. * Specify and select materials, components, and equipment, generating accurate bills of materials and supporting procurement activities. * Coordinate inspection, testing, and quality assurance in collaboration with project and QA teams to meet compliance standards. * Monitor and report project progress, milestones, and deliverables on a regular basis to management. * Provide technical input for bids, risk assessments, and safety evaluations, ensuring engineering integrity and compliance. * Support installation, commissioning, and documentation phases, including O&M manuals and site work scopes. * Ensure project documentation control, ISO 9001 compliance, and adherence to HSE and business management systems. Electrical Design Engineer Key Requirements: * Degree-qualified (or equivalent apprenticeship) in Electrical, Control, or Manufacturing Engineering. * Minimum 3 years’ engineering experience within marine, oil & gas, or petrochemical industries (other industries considered as well as long as skills are transferable). * Strong understanding of ATEX and IECEx standards and hazardous area design/installation requirements. * Proficient in developing detailed electrical and instrumentation drawings using AutoCAD. * Skilled in design, installation, and commissioning of electrical and control systems, including PLC-based architectures. * Experienced in interpreting complex technical documentation such as P&IDs, schematics, and process drawings. * Familiar with key industrial communication protocols — Ethernet, Modbus, HART, ControlNet, etc. * Commercially aware with a sound grasp of contractual and administrative aspects of engineering delivery. * Self-driven, adaptable, and proactive in achieving project milestones and technical deliverables. * (Desirable) Experienced with HAZOP/HAZID/SIL processes and liaising with certifying bodies such as ABS, DNV, and BV.
