Job Description

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This role focuses on the design of LV electrical installations and control panel schematics, primarily within the water industry, with additional exposure to HVAC and building services projects.

You will be responsible for producing high-quality, compliant electrical designs, working closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to deliver practical and cost-effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities for the Electrical Design Engineer

  * Design LV electrical installations in line with industry standards and client specifications

  * Produce control panel schematics and associated electrical drawings

  * Develop cable calculations, cable schedules, and load assessments

  * Prepare electrical schematics, layouts, and documentation

  * Use Trimble and/or Electrical OM software for design and documentation

  * Ensure designs comply with WIMES (Water Industry Mechanical & Electrical Specifications)

  * Support projects within the water industry, with additional involvement in HVAC schemes

  * Liaise with internal teams, clients, and contractors to resolve technical queries

  * Review and update designs throughout project lifecycles

  * Ensure all work complies with BS 7671, relevant standards, and best engineering practice

Essential Skills & Experience for the Electrical Design Engineer

  * Proven experience in electrical design (LV systems)

  * Strong background in control panel schematic design

  * Experience producing cable calculations and cable schedules

  * Ability to design electrical installations from concept to completion

  * Proficient in Trimble and/or Electrical OM software

  * Solid understanding of BS 7671 and LV electrical systems

  * Ability to read, interpret, and produce detailed electrical schematics

Desirable (but not essential)

  * Experience within the water industry

  * Knowledge of WIMES

  * Exposure to HVAC electrical design

  * Previous involvement in utility, infrastructure, or process environments

  * Supportive engineering-led environment
