Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Design Engineer to join their team. This role involves the design and specification of electrical systems from low voltage (LV) through to 33kV, supporting projects from concept through to delivery. You will play a key role in modelling, compliance, and technical communication across multidisciplinary teams.

Working Hours: Monday–Thursday 08:00–17:00, Friday 08:00–14:45 (some flexibility available by prior agreement)

Job Description
Understand project objectives and deliverables to ensure successful outcomes.
Design and specify electrical installations from LV to 33kV systems.
Carry out electrical system modelling including load calculations, fault level analysis, and protection coordination.
Perform cable calculations to ensure safe and efficient system design.
Contribute to substation design, including layout and equipment integration.
Select and size appropriate switchgear for project requirements.
Develop and review protection grading studies.
Ensure all designs and site activities comply with relevant standards and regulations.
Develop detailed technical specifications for electrical equipment.
Communicate design concepts clearly through meetings, reports, and detailed drawings.
Represent the company in client and contractor meetings with professionalism and technical expertise.
Conduct site surveys, inspections, and monitor on-site activities.
Support project delivery with a focus on budget and cost control.
Produce detailed reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
Promote effective communication and collaboration across project teams.
Electrical Design Engineer
Essential Experience/Skills/Qualifications
HND/HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum of five years’ experience in electrical design.
Proven experience with cable calculations, substation design, switchgear selection and sizing, and protection grading studies.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electrical modelling software such as Amtech, ETAP, or PowerFactory.
Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
Strong technical report writing skills.
Basic AutoCAD proficiency.
Membership with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), or working towards registration.
Experience in utility or connections-based projects is desirable.
Self-motivated with the ability to manage workload independently.
