The Role
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be involved in the full engineering lifecycle—from initial concept design through to manufacturing, testing, and commissioning. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, functional and high‑performance electrical systems for marine applications.
Key Responsibilities
Support the creation of new electrical designs from initial concept to final manufacture.
Conduct design validation through electrical system and equipment calculations.
Apply analysis results to demonstrate compliance with functional, safety, and performance requirements.
Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, test facilities, and customers to support project needs.
Carry out hands‑on testing of electrical systems and equipment.
Use the onsite test facility to build prototype setups and verify electrical designs.
Apply systems engineering principles to support the full lifecycle of product development.
Follow company processes relating to health & safety, training, quality, personnel, and project delivery.
Support the controlled release of drawings and documentation for production.
Work alongside engineers specialising in pressurised air and gas systems, hydraulics, and cooling systems.
Contribute to the compilation of vessel electrical test documentation for first‑of‑class builds.
Assist with Bill of Materials creation and part setup.
About You
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Marine electrical background with 5+ years’ experience, OR a degree in Electrical Engineering.
Experience using 3D CAD systems is advantageous but not essential.
Maritime experience is beneficial, but strong technical ability, communication skills, and drive are key.
Experience preparing design specifications.
Knowledge of hazardous voltages and CAN Bus systems is advantageous.
Strong understanding of electrical systems and engineering fundamentals.
Experience in build, test, and commissioning activities.
Comfortable working in a close-knit engineering team.
Self‑motivated, proactive, and willing to think creatively to solve problems.
