Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer
Salary: Up to £65,000 + Benefits
Location: Northampton
Travel: 20–30% Domestic & International
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
A leading engineering services provider is looking for a seasoned Electrical Design Engineer to support the development and execution of advanced electrical systems for industrial environments. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone ready to take ownership of complex projects and see them through from concept to commissioning.
What You’ll Do:
Design and develop electrical equipment and control systems for industrial applications.
Oversee fabrication, testing, and installation of systems including motors, transformers, power distribution units, and control devices.
Lead on-site start-ups and ensure installations meet project specifications and customer requirements.
Produce detailed electrical drawing packages, including schematics, layouts, and bills of materials.
Develop and debug PLC programs and manage communication networks.
Collaborate with estimation and project teams to define project scopes and schedules.
What You Bring:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering (required).
5–7 years of hands-on experience in electrical engineering.
Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with electrical wire way systems and industrial equipment a plus.
Strong grasp of P&IDs, mechanical systems, and safety standards.
Exceptional problem-solving, time management, and communication skills.
Ability to travel up to 30% and work in a variety of environments, including global field installations.
