Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer Location: Birmingham Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 per annum (depending on experience) Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm Type: Permanent, Full-Time Start Date: Immediately (flexible for notice periods) We are hiring for an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer who has some experience in a similar role  and can work on commercial and mixed-use projects in the Birmingham region. This is a growing design consultancy project and you will be working with a multidisciplinary team to deliver technically sound and coordinated electrical designs using industry-standard BIM software. Duties of an Electrical Design Engineer In this role you will be working in the Building Services Design Team to support the delivery of client-led MEP projects. Reporting to the Electrical Associate Director, you will be responsible for: Producing electrical designs including lighting, small power, LV distribution, fire alarms, security and data systems. Collaborating with mechanical, structural and architectural teams to produce fully coordinated 3D Revit MEP models. Carrying out electrical load calculations, fault level analysis and cable sizing using software such as Amtech or Trimble. Attending design meetings, site visits and inspections to ensure compliance and progress. Preparing technical schedules, specifications and contributing to project documentation for tender and construction. Skills and Experience of an Electrical Design Engineer As an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer, you need experience with: Building services electrical design, ideally in commercial or mixed-use developments Revit MEP, AutoCAD and Amtech (or similar electrical calculation tools) It would be beneficial to the Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer role if you also had: Knowledge of BS 7671 Wiring Regulations (18th Edition) Experience working to BIM Level 2 standards Awareness of CIBSE guidelines and design codes What the client offers an Electrical Design Engineer This client offers: Structured progression into Senior and Associate roles Support with further training and professional registration (IEng/CEng) Flexible hybrid working (office/home) and a modern, supportive working environment About the Client Our client is a growing MEP design consultancy that delivers high-quality mechanical and electrical design services to commercial, industrial, healthcare and public-sector clients across the UK.
