Electrical Design Engineer Location – Fareham Full Time – Permanent £45,000 - £55,000 Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to design cutting-edge electrical systems for marine vessels? The Role: The company is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their Electrical Engineering team. In this role, you will design and integrate electrical systems that power and control vessels, ensuring seamless operation, safety, and compliance with industry standards. You will collaborate closely with software engineers, naval architects, and mechanical engineers to deliver fully integrated vessel designs. Key Responsibilities: Develop and design electrical systems for vessels, including power distribution, propulsion control, sensor integration, and communication networks. Collaborate with software and control engineers to integrate electrical systems with navigation and control systems. Ensure all designs comply with relevant maritime regulations and classification society requirements. Oversee testing and validation of electrical systems. Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and compliance reports.Essential Skills & Experience: Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience. Significant recent experience in electrical design within the marine industry. Proficiency with electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD) and strong understanding of electrical principles and marine systems. Familiarity with marine electrical standards. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to solve complex engineering challenges. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to convey technical information to multidisciplinary teams.Desirable Skills Experience with navigation and control systems, including sensor integration (LIDAR, radar, GPS). Knowledge of communication protocols and networks used in marine vessels (Ethernet, CAN bus, NMEA 2000).
