Responsibilities and duties of the HV Electrical Design role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will:
Develop comprehensive HV electrical design packages, including single-line diagrams (SLDs), schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings
Design protection and control systems in accordance with IEC, IEEE, and client-specific standards.
Produce technical documentation such as design calculations, reports, and specifications.
Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) to verify design integrity
Ensure all designs adhere to safety regulations, relevant standards, and client requirements.
Collaborate with internal engineering teams, contractors, and vendors to achieve high-quality project outcomes.
Provide technical assistance during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and project planning activities.
Drive continuous improvement by contributing to the refinement of design processes and standards.
Professional qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
A minimum of 5 years' experience in HV electrical design (preferably substations or utility-scale projects)
Strong knowledge of HV switchgear, transformers, protection relays, and control systems.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar design software.
Familiarity with IEC/IEEE standards and UK utility specifications.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Commitment to safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
