We are looking for an Electrical / Mechanical Engineer with a keen eye for troubleshooting and preventative maintenance? No two days are the same working on site and the successful candidate will play a critical part in keeping equipment and systems operating safely, efficiently, and reliably.
Key Details:
Location – Potters Bar
Salary – Up to £45,000
Contract - Permanent, Full Time
Working Hours - Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm (one Saturday morning in five)
Additional Information: Opportunity to earn bonus. Overtime is available (voluntary paid at time and a half)
Responsibilities
* Interpret and work from electrical schematic diagrams to identify circuits and fault conditions.
* Safely isolate electrical systems and components using appropriate lock-out/tag-out procedures.
* Remove, replace, and install electrical and mechanical units mounted on plates or frames.
* Perform first-line fault finding and basic diagnostics using test equipment (multimeters, continuity testers, etc.).
* Carry out minor repairs and component replacements where feasible.
* Liaise with external repair services for components requiring full overhaul or advanced repair.
* Document work completed and maintain accurate service and repair records.
* Support preventative maintenance schedules to minimise downtime.
* Collaborate with other engineers, production teams, and health & safety personnel to ensure operational continuity and safety.
Requirements
* Strong fault-finding skills across electrical and mechanical systems.
* Comfortable working with tools, test equipment, and control panels.
* Ability to read and interpret electrical schematic diagrams and wiring drawings
* Positive approach to work with a “can-do” attitude
* Experience in electrical maintenance and installation
* Good problem-solving skills
