Location: North West or North Wales (Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days home)
Salary:
Permanent: £50,000 – £70,000 per annum
Contract: £400 – £450/day (Outside IR35)
Job Type: Permanent or Contract About the Role: Our client, a trusted engineering consultancy working on major UK water frameworks, is looking to recruit a skilled Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team. You will play a critical role in the delivery of design solutions for projects with United Utilities and Welsh Water, supporting everything from initial concept to final commissioning.
This is a hybrid position, offering the flexibility to work from home two days a week while collaborating closely with a dynamic office-based team.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver electrical design packages for water and wastewater treatment projects
Prepare and review drawings, specifications, cable calculations, and load assessments
Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and process design engineers
Ensure all designs are compliant with current legislation and industry standards (e.g. BS7671)
Attend design meetings and liaise with clients, contractors, and suppliers
Support site-based activities including surveys and commissioning where required Requirements:
Degree/HND in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Experience working in the UK water sector (ideally with United Utilities or Welsh Water)
Competence in electrical design software (e.g. Amtech, AutoCAD, Dialux)
Strong knowledge of control panels, MCCs, instrumentation, and power distribution
Understanding of CDM regulations and safety requirements
