We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Engineer with strong wiring harness and vehicle electrical integration experience to join an innovative engineering business operating within a specialist vehicle technology environment.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role where you will take technical ownership of low-voltage electrical distribution, wiring harness design and vehicle electrical integration across a range of projects.
The RoleYou will be responsible for taking electrical designs from initial vehicle circuit analysis and schematic development through to detailed CAD, manufacturing documentation, procurement and physical vehicle integration.
Key responsibilities will include:
Designing and developing low-voltage vehicle wiring harnesses and electrical distribution systems.
Interpreting OEM vehicle wiring diagrams and electrical architectures.
Designing bespoke interception and control harnesses for vehicle integration.
Working with CAN, LIN, discrete I/O, power and signal networks.
Developing professional 2D/3D electrical CAD packages and standardising legacy documentation.
Producing schematics, harness layouts, wiring schedules, pinout tables and manufacturing drawings.
Creating BOMs and specifying automotive-grade connectors, wiring, conduit, shielding and related components.
Supporting procurement and supplier relationships.
Reviewing and improving existing production harnesses for reliability, manufacturability and serviceability.
Supporting prototype builds, harness routing, commissioning and on-vehicle testing.
Carrying out electrical fault-finding and signal validation during first-off vehicle builds.
Managing engineering changes and ensuring appropriate documentation is maintained.
Working closely with workshop and manufacturing teams to take designs through to production.About YouWe are looking for someone who combines strong electrical engineering knowledge with practical wiring harness experience.
You will ideally have experience in areas such as:
Automotive or vehicle electrical systems.
Wiring harness design and electrical distribution.
Reading and interpreting vehicle/OEM wiring diagrams.
ECAD/electrical CAD packages, such as SolidWorks Electrical or equivalent.
CAN, LIN and other vehicle communication systems.
Harness documentation, schematics, BOMs and manufacturing drawings.
Automotive connectors, crimping, wire selection, shielding and routing.
Prototype vehicle builds and hands-on electrical troubleshooting.A practical, problem-solving approach is important, as you'll be working closely with engineers, technicians and manufacturing teams and will be expected to get involved with physical builds and vehicle integration.
