Job Description

Electrically Skilled Technician required to conduct corrective maintenance, fault finding, and supporting wider maintenance activities on modern rolling stock. In this hands-on role, you’ll be responsible for carrying out electrical and mechanical maintenance, fault finding, and warranty work on modern traction and rolling stock systems. Working within a fast-paced depot environment, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, performance, and reliability of CAF’s cutting-edge rail vehicles. Location: Newton Heath, Dean Lane, Manchester, Manchester, Great Manchester, M40 3AD Role and Responsibilities: Carrying out Warranty and Maintenance work on a fleet of modern passenger trains. Completing testing, fault finding, examinations and reliability checks Troubleshooting using electrical schematics, test equipment, and diagnostic software Fault finding and root cause analysis on electrical and electronic systems. The Candidate Have maintenance and warranty experience on Rolling Stock vehicles Be able to utilise schematics, software, and various tools to efficiently diagnose electrical faults within a Rail vehicle. A team player with the experience to work independently Will be a problem-solver with a logical mindset and the ability to think on their feet Comfortable communicating with and working alongside clients. Shifts Days and Nights Rotating pattern includes: 5 days on (Mon–Fri), 5 off 4 nights (Thu–Sun), 5 off 2 days (Sat–Sun), 3 nights (Mon–Wed), 4 off Essentials NVQ Level 3 minimum qualification (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline Experience following vehicle maintenance instructions Ability to interpret electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematic diagrams Experience using test and measuring equipment Desirable Strong fault-finding skills and ability to read schematics and VMIs.
