Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer
Annual Salary: £50,000
Location: Cambridge
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time, Day Shift (Monday to Friday, 8:00-16:00, flexible)Reed Engineering are working with a pioneering Cambridge-based agri-tech company that is dedicated to fixing the broken food chain through innovative solutions. They are seeking a skilled Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer to ensure the smooth operation of electrical and mechanical systems and contribute to their mission of sustainability and operational excellence.
Day-to-day of the role:
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment.
Diagnose and repair faults on PLC-controlled systems, motors, sensors, conveyors, and packaging machinery.
Support the installation and commissioning of new equipment and upgrades.
Ensure all maintenance work complies with health & safety and food safety standards.
Maintain accurate maintenance records using the CMMS system.
Collaborate with production and quality teams to resolve issues and improve line efficiency.
Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and continuous improvement projects.Required Skills & Qualifications:
Time-served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
Strong electrical fault-finding skills with a good understanding of mechanical systems.
Experience in a food, FMCG, or manufacturing environment;
Familiarity with PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc.) and automated systems.
Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and food safety standards is desirable.
Proactive, team-oriented, and able to work under pressure.Benefits:
