Electrical Project Engineer
London Bridge | £30m Shell & Core | £60,000 - £85,000 + Package
This is a good move for an Electrical Project Engineer who wants proper project exposure on a major Central London scheme, not just a role chasing paperwork from the back of the site office.
You will be working on a £30m shell and core project in London Bridge, on the former Mayor’s office, supporting the electrical delivery team across a technically detailed commercial refurbishment. It is the sort of scheme where the engineering, coordination and information flow matter, because small issues left unresolved early will quickly become problems on site.
This is not a finished Cat B fit-out where the route is already mapped out. You will be involved in the core electrical infrastructure, landlord systems, shell and core installation, technical coordination, programme support, procurement, quality and handover planning.
The business is a well-established M&E contractor delivering major building services projects across London. They have the project structure, technical support and senior people around the job to help an ambitious Electrical Project Engineer keep developing towards Project Manager level.
You will be joining a site team that needs someone organised, switched on and comfortable keeping pressure on information. Someone who can work closely with the Electrical Project Manager, supervisors, subcontractors, design team and client-side team to make sure the job keeps moving properly.
What you’ll do
Support the Electrical Project Manager across the delivery of a £30m shell and core commercial project.
Manage drawings, RFIs, technical submittals, design comments, approvals and site information so the installation team has what they need before it becomes an issue.
Work closely with supervisors and subcontractors across containment, distribution, lighting, life safety systems, power, plant interfaces, landlord systems and associated electrical packages.
Assist with procurement schedules, material call-offs, technical approvals and supplier coordination so labour, plant and materials are lined up with programme.
Keep on top of quality documentation, progress records, snagging, commissioning support and handover information.
Attend site meetings, coordination meetings and internal progress reviews, making sure actions are properly followed through.
Build strong working relationships with consultants, subcontractors, internal teams and the client-side team while learning how a major M&E project is controlled commercially, technically and operationally.
What you’ll need
You will already have experience as an Electrical Project Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Assistant Electrical Project Manager or similar within building services.
You will understand M&E contracting and be comfortable working on commercial projects, ideally including shell and core, refurbishment, fit-out or major Central London schemes.
You do not need to be the finished article, but you do need to be organised, proactive and confident enough to chase information, question drawings, speak to site teams and keep pressure on the right areas.
A background dealing with drawings, RFIs, submittals, procurement, QA, programme support and electrical coordination would suit the role well.
You will need to be site-focused, technically sharp and able to work in London Bridge as part of the project team.
Why this role
This is a sensible next step for an Electrical Project Engineer who wants to move towards Project Manager level and build their experience around larger, more technical projects.
You will be working on a sizeable Central London shell and core scheme with the structure around you to learn properly, take more ownership and become a more rounded electrical delivery professional.
If you want to be trusted with more than admin, and you want exposure to the kind of project that genuinely strengthens your CV, this is a strong move.
