As Electrical Project Engineer you will be responsible for the lead technical support on projects, from initial enquiry and tendering right through to construction, commissioning and energisation across all business units. The role will require an adaptable and agile individual who will work with various sections across the entire business, with a particular emphasis on the HV electrical elements of M&E projects. While the role will be primarily focusing on M&E installations and projects, the successful applicant will be part of the transmission and distribution (T&D) engineering team affording them the opportunity to expand their knowledge and experience on electrical installations up to 400kV.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and update design drawings for HV & LV equipment.
* Develop tender, construction, as-built drawings, schematics, and O&M manuals.
* Carry out lighting, cable sizing, and containment calculations.
* Produce project schedules, material take-offs, and tender documentation.
* Prepare method statements, risk assessments, and test packs.
* Use AutoCAD and MS Project for design and scheduling.
* Liaise and coordinate with design teams, contractors, and project staff.
* Attend technical meetings and clarify queries via RFIs.
* Manage document control, records, and information flow.
* Process requisitions, purchase orders, and confirm deliveries.
* Organise, assess, and monitor sub-contractor performance.
* Coordinate electrical installation phases (‘first fix’ and ‘second fix’).
* Ensure compliance with building and electrical regulations.
* Oversee commissioning of installed systems.
* Carry out quality control inspections and snagging.
* Support procurement of materials, equipment, and services.
* Assist with contract variations and project documentation.
* Ensure safety and quality standards are upheld.
Requirements:
* Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
* Minimum 2 years’ design/project management experience in industrial installations.
* Strong knowledge of HV/MV networks, resilience, and studies requirements.
* Experience with energy management and automation systems.
* Proven track record delivering projects on time and budget.
* Skilled in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
* Commercial and professional acumen.
* Leadership qualities – able to mentor, coach, and influence others
